Amman is the capital of Jordan, situated on a plateau in the northern part of the country, at an elevation of about 850 meters above sea level. Home to over 2 million residents, including a significant number of Palestinian refugees, the city boasts a rich history dating back to ancient times when it was known as Rabbat Ammon.
